Description
Pre-WWII German Mauser M1884/98 Bayonet with Scabbard and Frog. Ricasso is marked "8406" over "J" on one side and on the other side is "Carl Eickhorn". The grips are solid with some scratches and nicks. The blade has not been sharpened, the tip is sharp, the spine is marked "37" for 1937, and the finish looks great on one side, the reverse side has more wear. The pommel has a double Waffenamt mark "WaA253" and the pommel overall has some light nicks.
Lock button is functional. The scabbard has matching marks to the bayonet "8406" over "J" on one side and on the backside is "Carl Eickhorn" over "1937". The scabbard is solid with no dents, light surface rust mainly on the backside, some scratches, and the ball finial is Waffenamt marked. The leather frog shows wear, the stitching is tight, and stamped onto the backside is what looks like "C.POSL" over "Berlin 831". Length of the blade measures 9 5/8" (1" wide x 3/16" thick spine), length of the bayonet is 14 7/8", overall in the scabbard it is 15 7/8", and the frog alone is 8 7/8".
