    Description

    The b
    ayonet
    is
    dated and marked
    W. K. C.
    with
    serial number
7289 a with a 38 on the top of the edge of the blade and
    is un
    matche
    d
    with the
    s
    heath ?
040 (my guess since it has dried grease on it)
    .
    The blade is
    in
    nice
    condition
with minimal surface and finish wear
    .
    The blade has
    some
    dried grease and
oil on it and all of the original bluing except where there is finish wear from being inserted and removed,
which is mostly from the edge of the blood gutter to the tip
    .
    Overall,
    around
    90% bluing.
The blade has the factory edge and looks
    slightly used
    with
    2 very, very tiny nicks
    .
It has a very point tip.
    The g
    rips have no cracks
    and have
    minor
    surface wear. They are a
    darker
    brown and are securely
    attached.
The metal in the handle area is
a combination of dried grease, minor wear and patina with some finish wear on the guard.
    The push button works.
    There is
    Waffenamt stamping
in a variety of places: 2 on the opposite side of the push button, 1 on the top of channel and 1 just next to it on the metal strip. There looks like one on the push button.
    The s
    heath
    is
    in
    very good
    condition
    with
    very good
    bluing
    .
The surface has some dried grease and patina that gives it a slightly textured feel. I don’t see any dings. I would give a rough estimate of 85% bluing and if it were cleaned, probably much more.
    The bayonet goes in and
    out with little resistance.
The black leather frog is in great condition with minor surface wear and no cracking
except for some minor surface on the retaining strap
    . The riv
    e
ts and stitching are completely intact. There are some light spots of dried grease.
The frog is dated 43 and with an RBNr. To me it looks like: 0/0676 0039 43.
