Description

What we have here is a vintage WW2 German Police Bayonet with its original leather frog.
It’s maker marked Carl Eickhorn with the squirrel above the C.E. double-oval trade mark.
The frog is marked ‘Carl Hepting & Co ~ St Gt Feuerbach 1942’ a known leather goods manufacturer at that time.
There’s some verdigris to the nickel-silver plated eagle’s head pommel as well as the plated throat of the scabbard.
The blade is 13” while the bayonet is 17.25” overall in length.
It sports the stag horn grip plates typical of police bayonets.
Its frog and scabbard both appear deep brown rather than black in color and are in great shape.
Establishing a value to this sidearm is made easy by visiting such notable edged weapon expert’s sites as Johnson Reference Books or Wittmann Antique Militaria
on the web and searching out examples of Police Eickhorn double-oval examples.
