Western Maryland Dietz Vesta Lantern. Condition is "Used". Shipped with FedEx SmartPost.
For your consideration is a Western Maryland Railway Dietz Vesta lo-top lantern with wire base.
Difficult to read, but is marked M 2-31 meaning that this was manufactured February, 1931 at the Dietz Main factory in New York City.
Clear globe is etched WMRY and measures 4.25” tall.
Makers mark on globe is a C with NX written inside.
Wire base has small repair; repair is of the appearance of other lanterns repaired by railroad crew during the era. Handle is purposely bent; many lanterns are purposely bent this way by the railroad crew.
Unusual, to my knowledge, the lantern is stamped 607. This lantern is from a Hagerstown collection. Possibly from engine 607 crew; engine is photographed in Hagerstown in an attached photo.
