Vintage WWI/II Brass Hunting Maritime Pocket Compass Cloth Case Made in France

This is a neat old compass that says
Made in France
on the face. I believe this is probably from the WWI or II era. It has its original cloth case that has
W-3858
printed on it with a snap closure. The cloth case is in rough shape as you can see in the photos. The compass itself is brass and opens to a beveled glass covered face. I did not do any cleaning on the brass or any of it for that matter, will leave that for the new owner. The compass has use wear but seems to work okay. There is a slide button for locking the needles in place for travel.
It has a ring on it so that you could put a chain or lanyard on it to carry around your neck. The pouch is in worn condition
but is quite rare as they usually got tossed away, no one wanted to have to fool around with the pouch or just wanted to wear it around their neck.
Please look all photos for condition. The compass measures approx. 2 ¾” across the round.
