Description
Up for your consideration is a Vintage 1943 Southern Pacific RR Railroad Lantern with a red glass globe.
Globe has a symbol of a circle with the letter K in the middle of it, the logo of Kopp glass co. of Pitsburgh (1926 – present).
The lantern rim is stamped S.P. CO., and
Adams and Westlake Co. on the brim
.
Bottom is stamped with: Adlake – Kero 2–43/ USA/ 1415633/ 1415634–1415635/ 1660194/ Canada/ 1921–1923/ Patent pending (hard to see last line). The patents are from the years 1922 and 1926. Also the mark 2 – 43 on an Adlake lamp usually means it was made between April – June 1943.
The lantern is in solid overall condition. Some surface scratches, wear, bail is a little bent, some rust on metal just above the globe.  Oil pot is marked USE LONG TIME BURNING OIL ONLY No. 400 around the top of the pot. Oil pot has some very light rust on the bottom but no holes or cracks. Wick turner moves. Globe has only minor flakes to top and bottom rims, as made. IF it ships for less, I will send you the difference.
