    1912 VICTROLA   VV-XVI  L DOOR  SERIAL NUMBER 54018  D
As with so many Victrolas, this 1912 VV-XVI  L DOOR  was beyond saving.
The cabinet was firewood. How so many of the parts survived in good condition I'll never know.
The motor has been carefully serviced. The springs are original Victrola springs.
They may have been replaced some years ago because they seem to be in excellent condition.
They are Victrola springs with the original stamp just below the "pear shaped hole".
The governor springs and weights are original as with the other parts of the motor and are in good condition.
Looking very carefully you might find some scratchs and other signs of ware. After all, the motor is 109 years old and soon to be 110.
After assembling the motor (synthetic grease for the springs) I cranked it up very slowly and carefully.  The first winding was 20 turns, then I let it unwind fully.
Each winding I increased the turns by 5 or 10 depending how it felt and then let it unwind. I continued that process of winding and letting it unwind up to 95 turns.
I then tested it at 100 turns 3 times letting it unwind all the way.  This was only a "break in" and test. This spread the grease evenly through out the motor.
I have motors similar to this but I never wind them up more than 40 or 50 turns and only if I want to play alot of records at one time.
I always remember that they are very old and stuff happens.
This same model motor sold on Ebay early this year or late last year for 0.00. It's a rare motor, particularly in this condition.
I printed the sold report, but have misplaced it, so I don't have the exact date of sale.
Thanks for looking.  Questions? Just ask. I'll answer if I can.
