    Description

    Unusual German 84/98 III Pattern Rifle Bayonet measuring 15.25" overall with a blade length of 10".  Fine blade with some scabbard wear on the center point area both sides. Bluing is fantastic.  The ricasso is stamped "W.u.K." (Weyersburg und Kirschbaum) Guard shows unit or regiment markings of "S.W.V.6.".  The guard on the opposite side is marked with the acceptance/inspection, waffenampts marks and they are marked on the pommel end, top spine of blade, finial point of scabbard, it looks like the number is
    "W2A67"?
    flash guard on the top back is marked, "SU25".  The scabbard shows fading bluing with some pin-prick scattered pitting near throat area.  The throat area of the scabbard is marked, 3643c, with opposite side marked, "E.u.F. Horster 1939".  The spine top of blade as mentioned has a stamp plus the year "27".  Walnut grips in excellent condition with some light wear.  Excellent working press-stud with pommel also showing fine bluing remaining.  Included with the bayonet and scabbard is a brown canvas frog with a thick wire belt attachment, the canvas shows some wear, use, fading, the snap button underneath the strap has a small black piece of leather that covers the underneath area of rivet. An interesting piece that warrants further research.  We will start this at a zero reserve with free shipping.  See photos.
