TWO VINTAGE DIETZ VESTA RAILROAD LANTERNS RED CNX GLOBE PATENTS 1920-1928

Description

Here are two vintage Dietz Vesta railroad lanterns. Both appear to be complete and intact, with normal surface wear from age and use. This includes slight surface rust and discoloration to the metal, and minor scratches.
Both are marked on the top "Dietz Vesta New York U S A".  Both have the same patent dates stamped onto the metal: "Nov 8 '27  Apr 3 '28  Dec 25 '28  May 4 '20".   There is an additional date or model or code "S  -  1-  39" under these patent dates.
Both have red glass globes.  One has the embossed "H" over a "CNX" on one side. The other side has the embossed writing " Dietz Vesta New York USA".  The red glass globe in the second lantern has no apparent markings or logos on it, so it may be a replacement. I found no cracks or chips in the visible portions of the globes.

In response to your questions, here is some more information about the lanterns.  The tops open.  Both wicks are present, and can be raised and lowered.  The knobs that raise and lower the wicks are difficult to turn.  There is no fuel in the lanterns and I can't say one way or the other if there are any fuel leaks.  The lanterns were used as decorations only (not used or lit) for about 40 years.
