Item for your bidding consideration is a rare vintage
Sperry
Gyroscope Compass Repeater Gauge Back Plate
, probably from the 1942 -1945 period, Patented March 4, 1919.
Made by the Dodge Division of Chrysler Corporation under license from Sperry Gyroscope Company, Inc., this plate would have been mounted on the back of a gyroscope.
When installed the gyroscope would have given directions and headings to the pilot.
This back plate is in fair condition, and it's impossible for me to say whether this was ever installed and used in a gyroscope.
It is mounted on a fiber board  for display.
It measures approximately 7 1/2" in diameter and it is flat.
The 4 mounting holes are all about 1/8" in diameter.
The holes at north and south are both 1 1/2" on center apart from the center hole, and the holes at east and west are 1 3/8" on center apart from the center hole.
Interesting piece of early navigation history.
With signs of being used, such as scuffs, scratches, from age, use, storage and handling.

Item obtained from Father In-Law estate, he was a Decorated WWII Glider Pilot and after the war Stationed at Yokota Air Base in Japan, flew supplies to troops during Korean Conflict, and retired from Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake.
