Description
Up for your consideration is this freshly restored RCA Victor J-2 45 rpm record changer. Built during the 14th week of 1951, this is an attachment unit designed to play through a radio equipped with a phono input. It does not have an amplifier or speaker. This one has been completely restored, updated, and is ready to provide excellent quality sound when attached to the magnetic phono input of your amplifier or receiver. Let's take a look... the unit is in outstanding cosmetic condition. The motor board retains the original factory finish which has only very minor surface flaws. The turntable features a gold celluloid accent ring found only on early production units like this one. The brown bakelite case has a crack repair on both right rear corners. The repair is not visible when the unit is set up in playing position and the case is solid. All parts have been cleaned, polished, and buffed. In addition, the motor board and case have been waxed for additional protection and shine. Check the pics... classic! The restoration includes a new power cord, new wiring to the motor, new phono cord with high quality left and right RCA plugs, new rubber feet for the case, new motor mounts, resurfaced cycle cam, plus a new idler for steady, accurate speed and dependable record changes. The motor and entire mechanism have been completely disassembled, cleaned, lubricated, and adjusted for flawless performance. The obsolete crystal pickup has been replaced with a vintage Pickering V-15 AT3 magnetic stereo cartridge bridged for mono playback. The cartridge features a brand new diamond replacement stylus good for hundreds of hours of play. I have modified the tonearm pivot assembly by replacing the bearing washer with ball bearings for greatly reduced friction and improved tracking. This modification allows the stylus pressure to be set for gentle treatment of your 45's while ensuring dependable tripping at the end of each record. Load up to 15 of your favorites including stereo and enjoy! As always, I won't sell anything I would not keep for myself, so read my feedback and bid with confidence! Winner adds .00 for gorilla proof packing and shipping to any continental U.S. address. No international bids accepted. The radio in the pictures is not included. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!
