Up for sale is a truly 1 of a kind RCA glass Eyes Nipper Old King Coal paper mache FACTORY PROTOTYPE. This Nipper clearly exhibits the craftsmanship of the Old King Coal paper mache co. And is labeled #6 on the inside. I have seen one other such prototype from a different year, and I 100% guarantee that this is an original old king coal. This dog has glass eyes, stands roughly 18” tall, and is from 1917. The primary purpose of these prototype nippers was to determine the look and feel of the production units for 1917, and as such, each prototype varies slightly from the next. Only a handful of these prototypes were made each year, making them far rarer than their production counterparts. This Nipper shows some slight paint scuffing and couple of hair line cracks few little chips but nothing serious considering that it’s 103 years old, it’s in fantastic condition. I’d even go so far as to say that this is a museum quality piece, and likely the only chance you will ever have to bid on an authentic prototype old king coal Nipper.
