Description
An original WWII German Luftwaffe EM / NCO Dress Bayonet by Paul Seilheimer. Honestly, this is just a truly fantastic piece highlighted with a rare maker mark. With that said, let's start with the blade that has extremely nice plating which is completely intact. The blade, measuring 8", is marked Paul Seilheimer, Solingen with the logo of the sitting dog with a sword in it's mouth. A stunning maker mark image for the collector of different types. There are wear scratches along the edge, hard to see unless the light hits right, but no dings or damage. These are photographed. I have seen these types of scratches before on Luftwaffe dress bayonets. I wonder if these scratches were caused by some type of work activity / drill. The hilt is great with good plating. One spot of wear, see photos. The mortise button functions appropriately. The slot has a very nice green felt plug in place indicating the branch of use as Luftwaffe. The black grip plates are intact with no cracks or chips. The scabbard shows only slight paint loss and wear, one tiny dent in the reverse. The bayonet lug is loose but could be secured if desired. The brown frog is absolutely fantastic with virtually no wear or use. The portepee is also extremely nice and wrapped properly on the frog. This set would be very hard to upgrade. It is getting hard to find sets like this on the market so add it to your collection. If you have any questions just ask.
