Original Badge Made WW1 WW2 French, France Silver Coins Dated 1904 - 1903!!
These Silver Coins were Welded together, either during WW1 or WW2 to display the two different symbols that were shown on the French Currency at that specific time.
This is a Very interesting piece.
What I have noticed on the Front of the Badge, One side shows the WW2 and Earlier Italian Fascist symbol - The Fascist Axe.
This symbol was used on all WW2 Italian Fascist items.
The other side shows a Beautiful Women, perhaps showing Peace - Unity and Strength?
Much different than the other side which carries another date, just a year Before.
Someone thought that the significance of this, was so Great, that they then Welded the 2 Silver coins together to Make a Badge to wear, to show some sort of Belief in politics - Perhaps??
Unknown to me, its anyone's guess?
I do know for a fact that this piece is period made.
The Brass pin on the reverse is correct for the time period and so is the type of welding used. But once again its anyone's guess, as to which time period of WW1 or WW2 when this piece was created.
Perhaps it was put together during WW2?
Since Vichy France was Allies with Fascist Italy, perhaps someone had put this piece together to show unity between Fascist Italy and France??
Again who knows. The fellow that made this piece had something to say, if only we knew.
I love pieces like this, it show true history of the time period. This is a wonderful insignia for any Display collection.
