  • Condition: The frame is in excellent condition; clean metal, nice chocolate brown patina with tin showing through, stands straight and has no extra holes drilled, major dents, bent, broken or missing parts. It has the correct Handlan-Buck threaded twist off bell and brass E Miller burner. The fount and burner are in working condition and would hold fuel and burn if desired. The lantern globe is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, scratches, or cloudiness. The globe has a light Vaseline tint and some minor casting flaws, bubbles, and swirls, consistent with an early globe. Description

Offered is a vintage piece of
    American Railroad History
    , a
    Missouri
    Pacific Bellbottom Railroad Lantern
, embossed on the bell “
    MOPAC
,” the railroads nickname. The lantern frame is a Handlan-Buck, double wire guard, twist off bellbottom. The frame is in excellent condition; clean metal, nice chocolate brown patina with tin showing through, stands straight and has no extra holes drilled, major dents, bent, broken or missing parts. There is an Inventory or Control Number stamped on the bell which I believe is “C17330,” but it is hard to read so I am not certain of the numbers. It has the correct Handlan-Buck threaded twist off bell and brass E. Miller burner. The fount and burner are in working condition and would hold fuel and burn if desired. The burner takes a 5/8” flat wick, which easily moves up and down when the adjuster is turned. The Clear Lantern Globe is cast “
