I'm offering a scarce privately printed book titled " Magnetism and the Deviation of the Compass in Iron Ships " by Thomas Liddell Ainsley.No stated publishing date but appears to be approximately 1910 --charts illustrating this volume are dated 1905. I do not believe this is a first edition as the title page states "New Edition".
Printed and published by the author in Mill Dam, South Shields and by James Munro and Co, 49 Jamaica Street, Glasgow.

Please see photos for the cover (front and back), title page, contents page, the colored illustration (just one color but many black and white throughout), 2 advertising pages in the rear and rear endsheet with some moisture staining.
The rear cover board also shows some cloth bubbling and moisture marks --see rear cover photo below. Cover boards are worn on the corners and at the top & bottom of the spine.
Brilliant gold gilt lettering on the front cover! A very nice collectable maritime treasure; not often offered for sale.

165 pages plus 2 pages of ads in the rear. Binding is good ---all pages present and clean/no writing --moisture staining on rear cover board & rear endsheet (see photos). Overall good used condition.
