    Description

    These six
    masu
cups are ready to be used, displayed or both as many times as necessary.
    Masu
meaning a "square" or "measure" was originally a square wooden box used to measure rice in Japan during the feudal period.. Today
    masu
are largely used for drinking sake. Toasts are poured by stacking a pyramid of the guests'
    masu
on a towel or cloth, with the toastmaster's
    masu
atop and then overflowed until it fills all the masu beneath it. This symbolizes the generosity of the toaster to friends and how each wish to share their happiness and good fortune with each other. The pictures are of the
    hinoki
wood box cups where each measures approximately 3.25" x 3.25".x 2.125" outside with a lip width of .25" and weigh approximately 2.5 ozs. Some cups are a bit taller than others, but all are dovetailed joinery squares.  Two opposite sides of five of the cups have a Japanese branding burn into them and the remaining one has only one such side branded.   All pictures were taken in a camera tent. The cups were previously owned, gently used, and without damage.  The empty Sapporo bottle in the last picture is not for sale, but to illustrate the size of the wooded box cups. Beer is not recommended for any of these cups; however sake is recommended as the
    hinoki
(Japanese cypress wood) it imparts a special scent and flavor. All together the six cups weigh less about one pound.  Will answer all questions promptly.  Will ship by USPS priority mail with insurance and tracking provided.
