Description

Welcome.
I'm offering for your consideration an exceptionally large and beautiful turquoise ring by the inestimable Les Baker. The work is impeccable. The natural turquoise is a rich vibrant blue with pyrite inclusions, a classic Morenci Mine beautiful natural turquoise stone. It is framed with stamped wire, twisted wire and the bezel is serrated.
The ring is larger than the Mandrel so it's at least size 16 or a few sizes larger. It shows moderate wear. One of the serrations in the bezel is missing and some of the bezel is worn. The applied wings on the side of the stone are really nicely worn too. This ring has been loved but yet the condition is great wearable, vintage and collectible. It's properly signed sterling and by Les Baker.
Les Baker was born in 1935 and learned to silversmith in 1962 when his wife wanted a Squash he couldn't afford to buy, he made it for her and when it received complements from Mrs. Maisel at a Christmas party, he was offered a job at Maisel's, then Carl Luthy's shop. He went on to open his own shop. His work has a distinctive and sophisticated flair which is greatly loved by many followers. This ring is especially important because of the large valuable stone, and the ring size. It's very hard for someone with a large hand to get rings to fit and this one is a stunner.
