Here we are offering new and unused
ATHEARN
BLUE BOX
handrail stanchions in the size stated. What we have is lose unpackaged inventory.
We only have this size at this time. Please note:
that these can be shortened slightly, but this needs to be done carefully and then the base is re-bent for the stanchion bottom to fit in hole in the shell. If doing more than one, a jig can be made with two stout pins in some soft pine, one to hold the stanchions loop and the other to bend the bottom of the stanchion around.
Modelers Tip
: We have found that this item, when trimmed properly, makes an excellent railing support for tank car safety side railings. A hole is drilled for the stanchion in the car's body after the wire railing is attached in position before you glue the stanchions in place, this sort of does some of the measuring and such for you (using the wire to help align the pin vise). We have had great luck doing this to many cars that either had no railings or those with very fragile railings which needed repairs. Very sturdy support.
