    Description

This listing is for the pictured Antique WWII era binnacle With Lionel 712 No.1 Standard Compass.
The compass was definitely of wartime manufacture (it has 1944 stamped into it)
The compass seems to work as intended, I believe the reason for the yellowed look of the liquid inside is from the age of the fluid, there are instructions on the compass that describe what liquids can be used if it were to be changed.
There is a pull knob and a switch for a shade and a lamp socket for backlighting, there is no lamp installed, and this binnacle isn’t set up to be plugged into a wall outlet or anything so if you wanted the lamp to work you would have to wire it up yourself. I do not know if the wood has been refinished. I have not been able to open the door on this binnacle.
This binnacle is also equipped with what looks to be electro magnetic coils manufactured by Anaconda Wire and Cable (type K)
There has been a rumor that this binnacle came off of the USS Maryland, I have done what I can to look into it, but I personally cannot confirm or deny this claim.
    Dimensions:
