Wow! Antique Original "Star of India" Ship lantern. From "The world's oldest active sailing ship" still afloat today at the Maritime Museum in San Diego. Star of India was built in 1863 at Ramsey Shipyard in the Isle of Man, a full rigged iron windjammer ship sailing from Great Britain to India. Iron ships were experiments of sorts then, with most vessels still being built out of wood. Oil lantern at some point wired for electric. Wonderful patina. Great piece of history! Measures 19" high x 8 1/4" wide x 4 1/2" deep. Front glass panel & part of side panel missing, front door panel comes off, hinge broken, please view photos as they are part of the description.
