Antique 1917 US Navy Copper Maritime Compass Navigator
with
Attached Oil Lamp #48094
For your consideration is this rare antique U.S. Navy copper maritime compass navigator #48094.
Features a copper construction with beveled glass front and attached oil lamp for illuminating the inside. Inside is a compass on a gyroscope of some sort, keeping it straight upright even when the case is tilted. Compass is marked with the number "48094" in various places, as well as
"US NAVY" an "OCT. 1917"
. Oil lamp is marked "Simplex" and includes an extra wick in the pull out drawer.
This is in good condition considering the age of the piece. This is over 100 years old, and as such it has wear throughout that gives it its character and visually confirms it age. It has developed a beautiful green patina over the years. Compass still has fluid within and operates well... Everything included is pictured above and is being sold exactly as pictured. You will be hard pressed to find a piece like this in better condition.
Measures approximately 8 1/2" wide x 8 3/4" deep x 10" tall.
