Nightclub owner Jake Wise (James Woods) hires Brogan to hunt down his runaway girlfriend and the ,000 she stole from him. Out of options and with Jake holding one of Brogan's old mistakes over his head, Brogan reluctantly agrees. In beautiful Cozumel, Mexico, he not only finds the girl (Rachel Ward) but falls in love with her. However, their romance is shattered when he realizes there's a lot more to the story than Wise told him. In over his head, Brogan finds himself in a fight for the girl, his career, and his survival. Synopsis
In this remake of the 1947 film OUT OF THE PAST, Jeff Bridges plays Terry Brogan, an out-of-work football player who travels to Mexico to find a girl for a ruthless nightclub owner. Alone with her on the beautiful beaches of Cozumel, he ends up falling in love with her instead, and must fight an increasingly far-reaching web of corruption to keep her. Hackford also coproduced this romantic thriller, which features Phil Collins singing the title song, and a cameo appearance by the group Kid Creole and the Coconuts.
