Betsy has red hair, with no barrettes. Rubber skull cap wig. Beautiful face color. Small scratch in the middle of her forehead, just under her bangs. Split crotch, about 1/16 inch wide. No split on sides or shoulders. No splits on knees, and they bend freely. The leg on the left has dirt/staining on the thigh and knee. You can sort of see it on the 8th picture.
Betsy's 2nd year "Schoolgirl" dress does not have the apple applique; I don't see any signs that the dress ever had it. No tears or holes. At first glance, the dress looks pretty clean. However, there is a small spot on the front of the bodice on a white stripe. There is a brown stain along the crease on one sleeve. Same brown stain long a white stripe under a fold of the skirt. I tried to show these 2 areas on the last picture. There is light discoloration of the white, especially on the bodice.
The white shoes have the start of a split in one strap. The knobs are intact. Shoes are dirty. The thin nylon socks are in good shape, except for being dingy. I did not remove them to prevent damage.
The box has an original lid, but the bottom one must be a replacement of the same size; it has "2300 MINNEHAHA WHITE" stamped in red on one end. The box bottom is intact, and has scribbling on the bottom with a name and dates. The top is taped on 2 of the corners, one of which is split along the entire edge of that corner. There are a couple of scribbles on the top of lid; one looks to be pencil, the other ink. There are tears along the edges of the lid, and wrinkles/creases throughout the lid. There is a pencil mark by the hair color, but it goes through Blonde, Red and Brown, so I am not sure if that mark is just a scribble.
