Description
This special low-loss RP-SMA male to N-Female extension cable is RFC-400 (LMR-400 equivalent) shielded. The cable is 16 feet and can be used to put an extension between an RP-SMA antenna connector on a RAK 2, Nebra, or Bobcat miner on one end, and the official RAK or Nebra N-Male style outdoor antenna, or other N-male antenna (this has N-female, so connects to N-male antenna).
If you are not sure if this is the correct cable for your needs, message us!
This cable is designed to use your miner with a RAK or Nebra brand N-male antenna and does NOT fit the Rokland 8 dbi miner antenna. If you have the Rokland 8 dbi, contact us for other cable listings.
We recommend this extension cable compared to some others online because it is a special low-loss cable (RFC-400 Low Loss 50 OHM). What does this mean? The antenna to which you will connect this to has a gain. Let's say for example you will be connecting this to a 8 dBi gain antenna. As the cable in between the antenna and adapter gets longer, you will experience cable loss, which is a drop in the signal gain of the antenna. With low quality unshielded extension cables, the huge drop in gain will mean a much lesser range. Our special low loss cable limits the cable loss factor and preserves the high gain of your antenna.
Many cables on eBay use RG58 or LMR-195 shielding which have much more loss.
Compare gain loss:
This RFC-400 cable:
-0.6 dBi (for 915 MHz Helium mining/LoRa device)
RG-58 shielded cable of the same length:
-2.5 dBi
That means if you pair a standard cable with your RAK 5.8 dbi antenna, you lose almost half the gain.
Preserve your gain with our ultra low loss RFC-400 cable
If you invested a lot in your antenna, it is worth the extra amount to get a 400 grade low loss cable to maximize your antenna performance. This goes double for Helium mining- a higher loss cable means you may be getting less reach with your miner, and therefore mining much less.
